Fiscal sponsorship is not a grant. Fiscal sponsorship is an arrangement between a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a smaller charitable project or group. Through this partnership the smaller group is able to receive grants and tax-deductible donations without having its own nonprofit status. It’s a popular alternative to forming a new nonprofit, giving projects access to essential support.
One Omaha’s fiscal sponsorship program is a partnership that allows neighborhood groups and grassroots initiatives to access third-party grant funding through One Omaha’s nonprofit status.
One Omaha offers fiscal sponsorship services as a capacity building tool to Omaha-based groups working on projects that strengthen neighborhoods, build community and collective decision making. Fiscal sponsorship partnership is a tool that neighborhoods can use to build long-term power.
By providing equitable access to funding opportunities, we help ensure that community leaders have the resources to make change especially those without 501(c)(3) status. Fiscal sponsorship supports a healthier, more inclusive ecosystem for grassroots action in Omaha.
