Eligibility Criteria

The Process

• Plan for fiscal sponsorship approval to take 2-3 weeks. Make sure you apply for fiscal sponsorship with ample time to receive approval before your grant application is due.
• Read through the FAQ and watch the fiscal sponsorship workshop video below.
• If you have any questions after reading the FAQ and watching the workshop you can email Alex@oneomaha.org.
• Apply for fiscal sponsorship by filling out the application here. 
• Expect a response from One Omaha staff within 5 business days.
• The response email will set up an initial meeting for applicants to ask additional questions and for One Omaha staff to learn more about the applicant and their project.
• Expect 3-5 business days to hear back about fiscal sponsorship approval
  • Sponsorship requests over $5,000 will require board approval
• After approval you will sign a fiscal sponsorship agreement digitally.
  • You will have to sign a separate fiscal sponsorship agreement for each grant that you will apply for.
• After you have signed a fiscal sponsorship agreement, you may apply for the corresponding grant using One Omaha as a fiscal sponsor.
  • It is highly encouraged for groups receiving fiscal sponsorship to apply for a facilitated planning session through One Omaha’s COLLAB Services. This session helps groups develop project goals and action steps to accomplish those goals on an agreed upon timeline. Participation in a facilitated planning service can strengthen grant applications and improve project outcomes.
• When you receive notification of your grant application status you must notify One Omaha of the status of your application (were you granted funds or not) and how and when the funds will be dispersed.
• Allow 7 days for the fiscal sponsorship to be processed.
• You will meet with One Omaha staff once quarterly throughout the fiscal sponsorship to provide updates on the status of your project.
• You will complete a final report at the end of the year.

Expectations

• Sponsored groups can expect transparency, support and clear communication from One Omaha
• In return, we expect sponsored partners to:
  • Participate in regular check-ins
  • Communicate honestly about challenges
  • Complete required reporting
  • Align with One Omaha’s values around equity, community voice and accountability

Fees

• One Omaha may charge a 5-10% fee depending on the amount of administrative work involved. The fee rate will be included in the fiscal sponsorship agreement.
• Fees are only levied if you receive the grant and One Omaha processes it.
• If you do not receive funding, you will not be charged a fee.
• No fee is collected for fiscal sponsorship of Omaha Mayor Neighborhood Grants or Omaha Community Foundation Neighborhood Grants.
